Rev. Dr. Ryer (Pentacostal) is a case planner for the fathering initiative at the foster care agency Forestdale in Forest Hill, Queens, working with youths 14-25 years of age. He is also an adjunct professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. He was ordained at Christ’s Temple in Harlem in December, four months after being released from prison. Before being incarcerated in 1997, he was a youth services director for New York City, working with the Children’s Aid Society and settlement houses. He earned an M.A. in criminal justice at Oklahoma University in 1984 and a Master of Professional Studies degree in 2004 in the New York Theological Seminary program at Sing Sing.
