Rev. White-Harrigan (non-denominational) is the executive director of Women’s Community Justice Association, heading an effort to close the Rose M. Singer Center, the women’s prison at Rikers Island, in 2020 rather than 2026 as the mayor plans. She was released from the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in 2004 after being incarcerated 11 years. She then become a program manager at Exodus Transitional Community in Manhattan and later worked for Housing + Solutions in Brooklyn. She received an M.S.W. degree from Lehman College in 2014. Ordained a minister in 2015, she will become the co-pastor with her husband, Kenneth, of the New Jerusalem Church, a nondenominational congregation in the Bronx in January.
